Position Summary:
 

This position is for an MEP electrical engineer in the AEC industry. Our desired candidate will perform calculations, design systems, handle equipment selections, take care of reports, progress submittals, and BIM instructions for their project. This is to ensure project completeness and accuracy within the allocated period and monetary budget. The above-mentioned duties are performed in accordance with current code editions along with Formica & Associates design standards. Additionally, our desired candidate will communicate and coordinate with other electrical staff to produce drawings as needed and work with other trade team members ensuring quality and cohesiveness.

Principle Duties/Responsibilities:
 
  • Design portions of a project related to electrical systems according to code and F&A standards to produce construction drawings for permitting purposes.
  • Research resources for commercially available equipment.
  • Provide good client relations, project design notebook, and provide documentation for permanent record files.
  • Coordinating design and schedule with other disciplines such as architectural, structural, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers.
  • Documenting design decisions, meetings, and instructions from clients promptly while monitoring project design progress.
  • Review design methods, procedures, changes in scope, and client correspondence with the Lead Engineer.
  • Review all drawings to ensure technical accuracy and continuity prior to signing and sealing documents for permit submission.
  • Sign and seal all electrical engineering documents.
  • Assist with training junior staff.
  • Assist with creating project checklists to ensure standards are being met.
  • Other duties assigned by the employer.

 

Key Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years of USA-based experience in the AEC industry with a minimum of six years as a professional engineer
  • Must be located or willing to locate to the south Florida region. This position will require site visits to projects and/or in-person meetings with clients on an irregular basis
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans and drawings for use in permitting and construction in the AEC industry
  • Skill in the use of Autodesk Revit software is preferred. Also, AutoCAD, software, Bluebeam, DIALUX, and Microsoft Office. All drawings produced within the firm are exclusively in Revit
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written English with individuals or groups
  • This position requires the candidate to be a US citizen
